Missing Moms And Housewives Are Today's True Crime Stories
It all exploded in the media with the disappearance and death of Laci Peterson. Of course, her husband Scott was the killer and now he is on death row in California. Now it is the story of another Peterson, Stacey who is also missing and presumed dead. Her husband Sgt. Drew Peterson is the prime suspect. There have been numerous cases of missing and murdered moms and housewives in between these two cases and as in a great number of true crime stories the husband/boyfriend is usually the culprit.
In fact, a staggering 42% of women are killed in the United States by their male partners and 1 in 4 women will be physically abused by their male companions in their lifetime. It is a fact that domestic violence is the number one cause of serious injury to women which makes it more common than muggings and car crashes.
These statistics are overwhelming and so are the constant barrage of true crime stories we get on the news and media shows all the time. The facts can be depressing but there is a ray of hope for women in need and that is to know that the wide exposure of this true crime is letting the rest of the world know of these women's suffering. Hopefully this can bring about change.
