"I Have A Dream" Inspires Child On How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeTia Naedoo, 10, of Phoenix wrote a speech describing a Utopian world where children were free of rape, hijacking, murder and robbery. She was inspired by Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream speech. In her speech she wrote, "I have a dream, a dream of love, a dream of peace, a dream that could be a reality. I dream in a world of a crime-free society." Her ideas on how to stop crime were her main focus on informing the police that their priority should be to help young people be free of crime. She did a good job doing it too as she won top honors in the speech competition at the Lenham Primary school.

"Toughest Sheriff In America" Knows How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeThe self described "Toughest Sheriff in America," Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Phoenix, AZ knows how to stop crime. At least he's trying to anyway by enforcing tough DUI laws, (some say the harshest in the nation) and making it a lot tougher on criminals in Arizona period.

If you get caught and convicted in his jurisdiction Sheriff Joe will make your life pretty much hell. Which is how jail is supposed to be isn't it? That is the theory behind his punishments and he also trys to instill the phrase, "If you don't want to do the time, don't do the crime."

Of the many 'discomforts' Sheriff Joe will enforce are, pink boxer shorts, 35 cent meals that include not too tasty bologna sandwiches, hard labor on chain gangs, short haircuts, educational TV, random drug testing and no smoking, movies, coffee or girlie magazines.

Oh yeah, and if you get caught in the summer the temperatures can reach as high as 122 degrees and you will have to do your time outside in Sheriff Joe's 'jail' called Tent City.

You don't wanna get caught in Phoenix.

New Service Shows How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeWhen Greg Wisenant of Arlington, VA accidentally let a burglar on a neighborhood crime spree into his apartment a decade ago he thought up a new system for alerting people of dangerous criminals who could be in their area.

Wisenant soon created an alert system on the Web called CrimeReports.com. The program started last year and has now gone nation wide. On this site you can find overlays of police reports on maps which allows people to view where arrests have been made and where police calls have been made. It allows users to configure e-mail notices that will alert them to crimes in their locations or in certain areas of a town or city all within a day.

So far about 40 law enforcement agencies have already signed up with more expected to follow. What is great about the CrimeReports program is that it extracts the files from disparate police databases.

For Your Personal Safety, Tip On How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeWhen you park your car in a parking lot to go run errands or shop, do you always lock your doors? Shame on you if you do not do this simple and common safety procedure. This alone can prevent many crime instances from happening such as criminals slipping into your back seat to attack you when you enter or even just to steal your personal items or your car itself.

If you want to know how to stop crime or at least many crime scenarios from happening to you then do some common sense things. For instance, when you are out walking, running or riding a bike do you use a listening device like an iPod with earphones? While we know it is much more enjoyable to exercise with a little music to listen to, it also puts you in more danger. These things could prevent you from hearing a car approach or a stranger walking up behind you.

One more bit of advice on how to stop crime would be to bring someone along with you or even your dog during these times as well. The buddy system usually works wonders.
