Crime Statistics Say, Finish High School!

crime statisticsAccording to recent crime statistics report that was published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, finishing high school is a major key to reducing violent crime. Just a 10% boost in graduation rates they have figured, could lead to an astonishing prevention of up to 150 murders a year. That is incredible if these statistics are correct. The study was conducted by a group called Fight Crime: Invest In Kids and they are calling for a large investment in pre-kindergarten programs that get young children ready for school and they say, increase the childrens chances of completing their education through graduation. The study also found that with more high school graduates there are 320 fewer assaults in the city of Pittsburgh and 5,900 less statewide.

Child Abduction, Murder Victim Or Something Else?

murder victimMany of you may be watching this case closely and if you are then you are probably just as puzzled as the authorities are. I am talking about the missing 2 year old, Caylee Anthony. Is this child a murder victim? Or is it a case of abduction as originally claimed by her mother Casey? Or has something altogether different happened to this little girl? Some are wondering if the mother, who it appears was strapped for cash, may have sold her for money. The mother and grandmother are both odd and suspicious characters in how they have acted, first off, with the missing child not even being reported for over a month. Neither of them are speaking much at the moment. The mother was arrested on charges of child neglect and obstructing an investigation with a $500,000 dollar bond.

sex crimeSex crime is a very big problem with many sex offenders living in your own neighborhood and you don't even know it. A couple of years ago the United States Justice Department established a website that is helpful to the public in that they can educate themselves about the presence of sexual predators living near them and their family or in their communities. At nsopr.gov you will get information regarding the pressence and location of sex offenders who in a majority of the cases have been convicted of sexually violent crimes against adults and children. This will give parents and caretakers the proper information they will need to take the precautions they wish to keep themselves and their children safe.

Phoenix Crime Stopper

crime stopperPhoenix crime stopper, Jack Ballentine didn't know what to do with himself after he retired, so he went back to what he always did best, fighting crime. When the Phoenix Fire Department badly needed some help in solving some cases of arson they took a gamble on going with Ballentine. And that gamble has paid off big time. In fact, Ballentine has took the Phoenix Fire Department unit from having one of the worst records of solving arson in the country to actually above the national average. He helped solve the old 2001 Market fire that killed a fellow firefighter and has brought the fire department and the police department closer together in solving cases.
