The San Diego County Crime Stoppers unit has been accepting tips through the telephone for the last 24 years and are now updating their system through cyberspace. It has been a year in development, said the Crime Stoppers executive director, Sally Cox. Here is where all you helpful tipsters can go: sdcrimestoppers.com and click on "email a tip" then follow the simple instructions. For text messaging through your cell phone you can text the word "crimes" or "274637" then follow the instructions and type in "tips 409" and add your message. The only request they ask the tipsters is to be as detailed as possible.

Lead - Cause Of Juvenile Crime?

Dr. Needleman, professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine studied children with the effects of lead poisoning and determined that they scored much lower on IQ tests and that juvenile crime rates increased among children who had higher concentrations of lead in their systems. He stated, "Exposure to lead, at doses below those which bring children to medical attention, is associated with increased aggression, disturbed attention and delinquency. A meaningful strategy to reduce crime is to eliminate lead from the environment of children."

Andy Warhol's Paintings Of Crime Scenes

I just watched a documentary on Andy Warhol and part of what fascinated me most was his Death and Disaster series, crime scenes that he painted between 1962 and 1963. Along with images of the electric chair, Warhol painted scenes of car crashes, race riots and a disturbing collection of death and injury.

Andy Warhol was a unique individual to say the least, and he had a morbid interest in disaster themes that permeated his work. Death, knives and guns were featured throughout his work as well as a series of screenprints titled "Flash-November 22, 1963", that he documented in 11 images the assasination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas.

Warhol's paintings of celebrity's as well as his Death and Disaster series are still popular today, selling for tens of millions of dollars. His Green Car Crash sold last year for a record 35 million dollars. His silkscreen paintings are also featured in a Pittsburg museum as well as one in his native Polland.

Drew Peterson Can't Escape Unsolved Crimes

Former Illinois cop Drew Peterson, who's wife Stacey has been missing for months appeared on Larry King last Friday. This guy just loves the media, even though he claims otherwise.

In my opinion, he is guilty as heck. You don't just have two wives, one who's death was extremely suspicious with a second autopsy claiming it was homicide and the other one skipping out on her children never to been seen since, and claim innocence. Drew claims he was shocked to learn of the findings of the second autopsy of his wife Kathleen Savio and still sticks to his story that Stacey ran off with another man.

A grand jury convened in November 2007 to investigate both Savio's death and Stacey's disappearance. Let's hope the next time he is interviewed it is by the prosecutor's in the case and not some television talk show. These are some unsolved crimes that need to be solved.

Senseless Crime Stories

There are some dumb criminals out there and along with them come their dumb and senseless crime stories. Just because these stories are dumb and senseless does not in any way make them any less horrible.

Lawn care has left one man dead and another man facing a death sentence. What happened? Well, the bad blood between the neighbors in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida had been simmering for years. The neighbors often fought over property lines and eventually they fought over everything, including how short to trim the lawn grass.

Andrew Macon's lawn man supposedly nicked the edge of Jerome Jackson's grass with his riding mower. At that moment Jackson came charging out of his home and so did Macon. The two men argued violently until Macon whipped out a pistol and shot Jackson. Jackson did not fall immediately and jumped Macon and the two struggled until Macon shot Jackson once more, killing him.

Of course everyone has said that Macon was 'such a nice guy' and that this was not like him at all. But now he faces a first degree murder charge and the death penalty.

Home Invasion Robbery - Stop Crime Now

Home invasion is unfortunately, a growing crime in America. It is where criminals force their way into a home while the residents are there, in order to committ their crime like burglary or rape. It can happen to anyone, anywhere and can be a frightening and emotionally scarring experience. But there are ways to protect you and your family, so this does not happen to you.

First, never sit at home with the doors unlocked, it just is not safe anymore. Always be aware of your surroundings and in your neighborhood report any suspicious vehicles driving around or suspicious people walking around. Organize a neighborhood block watch if you can.

Install good locks on all doors and windows and think seriously about getting a home security alarm system. Motion sensitive lighting outdoors is a good idea as is cameras whether they are real or dummies, they will make a person think twice before they try to break in. Get a peep hole for your doors as well.

Finally, the best safety measure of all is a dog or two. They are the best deterrents of all and if you just don't want to get one at least place dog bowls and dishes outside to make them think you do have one. We need to stop crime now!

US Has Highest Internet Crime Rate

The 2007 crime report from the Internet Crime Complaint Center, or IC3, has said that the US has the highest Internet crime rate, the dollar loss reported for this reached up to 239.9 million and is the highest loss to date. The IC3 takes field complaints for online crime on behalf of the National White Collar Crime Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation or FBI.

While the number of complaints has stayed relatively the same from year to year, it is the dollar figure that has increased. With the Internet only getting more popular world wide, this leaves the door wide open for all would be criminals to come in and it leaves a wealth of opportunities for them.

The report also stated that 75% of those cyber criminals are male, with 15.8% of them coming from California, 10.1% from Florida, 9.9% from New York and 7% from Texas. E-mail is their favorite form of contacting their victims and auction fraud is the most common type of fraud committed.
