Psychic Detectives, Unsolved Crime, Police Skepticism

unsolved crimeIf you believe in psychics then you believe that they can "see" things in the past, present and future. And because of this police detectives have consulted them in unsolved crime cases when their own investigations stall.

The truth is though that many police departments are highly skeptical of psychic detectives and are reluctant to invite them in to a police investigation. Some consider them kooks or frauds. But many officers do use them, especially on high profile cases they wish to get solved, many times at the victim's family members urging.

While police departments will not claim that any one single case has been solved by a psychic detective it is true that they have been eerily accurate on many details they would not normally know about. De-bunkers claim this is from psychics playing investigator themselves and finding facts by digging deep in the case to obtain information. Which some have gone to great lengths to do, even impersonating a police officer and showing up at crime scenes.

While some police departments have used psychic detectives others say self proclaimed psychics are nothing more than a waste of time.

Police Brutality In Crime News

Just when I thought I had seen it all after last week viewing the paraplegic being dumped from his wheelchair while being booked into a Florida jail I have to admit this video left me more dumbfounded than ever.

True, the woman in the Shreveport, LA jail was drunk and belligerent but come on this is police brutality in the first degree! The crime news here is all the offenses this cop has committed. Covering the video camera and turning off the sound we are left wondering for a moment what is going on until the camera is back on. My mouth dropped as I saw the woman's limp and near lifeless body fall onto the floor. She literally had the crap beat out of her as she lay near a large pool of blood.

What the heck is going on with our police officers these days when they think this is ok to do to someone? There are plenty of true criminals out there that probably do deserve a beating like this. But wait, that might not be fair game now would it? First, the tough criminal wouldn't have his hands cuffed behind his back and second it would probably be a man! Way to scary for some big, bad police officer to take on.

Some Unsolved Murders You May Not Have Heard About

unsolved murdersEvery day you hear about more young women missing across the country to the point where cable and local news channels are saturated with the stories. CBS has a program called 48 Hours Unsolved Mystery where they showcase murders and unsolved crime. We have all heard of Stacey Peterson, Natalie Holloway, Brianna Dennison and Jesse Davis. Here are some unsolved murders you may not have heard about across the country.

Molly Bish disappeared on June 27, 2000 from the town of Warren, Mass. Molly had been given a ride from her mother to a local swimming pond where Molly worked as a lifeguard. Her mother said goodbye and the next person that showed up 20 minutes later found that Molly was missing. Although some clothing items of Molly's have been found her body has not.

The remains of Swedish nanny Karina Holmer from Dover MA were found in a dumpster on June 23, 1996. Her torso was cut in two and the upper part stuffed in a garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster. Her lower half or her killer have never been found.

The last time anyone spoke to newscaster Jennifer Servo, a 22 yr. old from Abilene, TX was on September 16, 2002. When her friends arrived at her apartment the next day to check on her they found her body on the bathroom floor. She had internal bruising, there were signs of strangulation and sexual assault and she had been hit on the head with a blunt object.

According to the National Crime Survey Report, homicide is the number 2 cause of death for persons aged 15 - 24.

"Toughest Sheriff In America" Knows How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeThe self described "Toughest Sheriff in America," Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Phoenix, AZ knows how to stop crime. At least he's trying to anyway by enforcing tough DUI laws, (some say the harshest in the nation) and making it a lot tougher on criminals in Arizona period.

If you get caught and convicted in his jurisdiction Sheriff Joe will make your life pretty much hell. Which is how jail is supposed to be isn't it? That is the theory behind his punishments and he also trys to instill the phrase, "If you don't want to do the time, don't do the crime."

Of the many 'discomforts' Sheriff Joe will enforce are, pink boxer shorts, 35 cent meals that include not too tasty bologna sandwiches, hard labor on chain gangs, short haircuts, educational TV, random drug testing and no smoking, movies, coffee or girlie magazines.

Oh yeah, and if you get caught in the summer the temperatures can reach as high as 122 degrees and you will have to do your time outside in Sheriff Joe's 'jail' called Tent City.

You don't wanna get caught in Phoenix.

Top Crime News - Military Prosecutors Seek Death For 9/11 Suspects

crime newsOk, so it's a little after the fact but I guess you could say better late than never, right? What I'm talking about is the Pentagon announcing today that they will go after the six men detained at Guantanamo Bay for conspiring against the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. The charges against them are murder and war crimes, in all 169 overt acts. And yes, they are asking for the death penalty.

They are six men including alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. The other men are Walid Bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi and Mohammed al-Qahtani. And after six and 1/2 years of the horrible acts of 9/11 and the 19 alleged Arab hijackers that were responsible the U.S. government is taking further action in finally charging these men.

My question is, why have they waited so long to do so? Whatever the reason, surely there will be controversy involved in these cases with waterboarding issues being brought up and the issue of Guantanamo Bay itself.

New Service Shows How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeWhen Greg Wisenant of Arlington, VA accidentally let a burglar on a neighborhood crime spree into his apartment a decade ago he thought up a new system for alerting people of dangerous criminals who could be in their area.

Wisenant soon created an alert system on the Web called CrimeReports.com. The program started last year and has now gone nation wide. On this site you can find overlays of police reports on maps which allows people to view where arrests have been made and where police calls have been made. It allows users to configure e-mail notices that will alert them to crimes in their locations or in certain areas of a town or city all within a day.

So far about 40 law enforcement agencies have already signed up with more expected to follow. What is great about the CrimeReports program is that it extracts the files from disparate police databases.

Funny Superbowl Ad Shows New Way To Stop Crime

Were you one of the 91 million people who watched the Superbowl in AZ this year? I'm an AZ native so let me tell you it was one huge non-stop party all over the valley. Security was tight and the police force were out in full force. Many, I am sure left AZ with the great souvenir of a DUI conviction, thanks to our tough drunk driving laws.

I have to admit I am not much into the game but I am into the commercials. While they offended some, I thought they were downright hilarious. This commercial from 2006 shows a great way to stop crime in today's technology age. Watch and enjoy.
