Susan Atkins, the confessed murderer of actress Sharon Tate back in 1968, is back in the crime news. Atkins, who is now 60, has terminal brain cancer in which doctors have only given her 2 to 3 months to live. She is asking for an early release due to medical reasons. Atkins lived at the Californian Institution for Women in Corona for the past 37 years. She is the longest female inmate incarcerated in the state of California. Atkins has already had one leg amputated.
