New Service Shows How To Stop Crime
When Greg Wisenant of Arlington, VA accidentally let a burglar on a neighborhood crime spree into his apartment a decade ago he thought up a new system for alerting people of dangerous criminals who could be in their area.Wisenant soon created an alert system on the Web called CrimeReports.com. The program started last year and has now gone nation wide. On this site you can find overlays of police reports on maps which allows people to view where arrests have been made and where police calls have been made. It allows users to configure e-mail notices that will alert them to crimes in their locations or in certain areas of a town or city all within a day.
So far about 40 law enforcement agencies have already signed up with more expected to follow. What is great about the CrimeReports program is that it extracts the files from disparate police databases.
