For Your Personal Safety, Tip On How To Stop Crime

how to stop crimeWhen you park your car in a parking lot to go run errands or shop, do you always lock your doors? Shame on you if you do not do this simple and common safety procedure. This alone can prevent many crime instances from happening such as criminals slipping into your back seat to attack you when you enter or even just to steal your personal items or your car itself.

If you want to know how to stop crime or at least many crime scenarios from happening to you then do some common sense things. For instance, when you are out walking, running or riding a bike do you use a listening device like an iPod with earphones? While we know it is much more enjoyable to exercise with a little music to listen to, it also puts you in more danger. These things could prevent you from hearing a car approach or a stranger walking up behind you.

One more bit of advice on how to stop crime would be to bring someone along with you or even your dog during these times as well. The buddy system usually works wonders.

Crime Stoppers Tips

crime stoppersThe Thunder Bay Crime Stoppers has tips to keep you safe in all areas of crime. They are common sense stuff but sometimes people need to be reminded how important these tips can be to prevent crime from happening to them.

First in the case of credit card theft they suggest that you keep your credit card number and keep your card safe. Place your receipts in a safe place as well and shred any unused credit card information.

Next, watch out for phone and Internet scam artists. If you get a phone call or e-mail that sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Hang up and delete immediately.

For your home, always lock your doors and shut your windows when you leave. On the outside light it up! Clear all bushes from windows. Have mail and newspapers picked up if you are going to be out of town and ask someone to keep an eye on your house. And then you can turn on a light or two and even the radio to low volume to make your place look and sound like it is being lived in at the moment.

All of these are great crime stopper tips for your home, internet, phone and credit card protection.

Crime Prevention Video To Get Your Attention

Here is a crime prevention video made by Chris Simcox, President of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps. He is talking about a problem that is a very hot topic in the country right now, illegal aliens and crimes that the Mexican nationals commit in the United States.

When a Phoenix police officer recently got murdered in the line of duty he was not the first. In fact, he was the 5th out of the last 7 police officers killed in the line of duty - by an illegal alien. The murderer Chris speaks about in this crime prevention video was a 22 year old illegal alien that had been deported once and came right back in our country illegally even though he had been arrested already in Tucson for stealing.

In the crime prevention video Chris Simcox gives the phones numbers of AZ Governor Janet Napolitano, state councilmen and the Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon. If you would like the problem of illegal aliens coming into our country and literally getting away with murder to stop I urge you to contact them.

World's Best Crime Stories?

crime storiesWhat are the world's best crime stories? There are plenty to choose from. Everything from hijackings to murder to unexplained and suspicious disappearances. Here is a list of some top unsolved crime stories of all time.

You have to start with the most famous of all crime stories, Jack the Ripper. In London in 1888 when 5 prostitutes (or was it 8) were found brutally slashed the top crime story of all time began.

Agatha Christie's brief, yet unexplained disappearance. The famous crime story author disappeared in 1926. Her car was found in the bushes with headlights burning, a suitcase in back. Later she popped up in Yorkshire reading a paper about her own disappearance but the real story remains to be heard.

The hijacking of an American flight by D.B. Cooper in 1971 is a top crime story that is yet to be resolved. Who was he and is he still alive?

Was Marilyn Monroe's death a suicide or murder? It still remains unknown if drugs found in her blood, but not her stomach were put there intentionally by the Mob, the Kennedy's or her psychiatrist Dr. and for what reason.

Famous horror writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe's death is as dark as the things he wrote about. After saying he was leaving to visit his ex-mother-in- law, Poe turned up in someone else's clothes in Baltimore, disheveled and disoriented. He died later that day and it is still an unexplained and mysterious event.

These are just the tip of the iceberg as far as the world's best crime stories go, maybe we will come up with more later on. What are your favorites?

Advancements In Technology To Stop Crime

advancements in technology to stop crimeWhat is the latest advancements in technology to stop crime? One advancement is with a gadget you may not think of as being able to stop crime but it is. It is the digital picture camera cell phones that most of us have. As more and more people are taking pictures and videos using their cell phones crime is going down. Mainly because the criminals are realizing that they can be captured pretty easily now on camera by any person walking by.

Other advancements in technology to stop crime are with 21st Century Robotics. Robot production is growing worldwide to aid in crime prevention and child safety programs. They are used to educate children and promote commercial business and products.

What is really interesting is that these robots have proven to hold an audience captive and that is good for children who need to learn about crime prevention, drug programs, how to say 'no' to drugs, fire safety, anti-gang messages and homeland security awareness. The robots are so effective they have even been used to interview sexually abused or exploited children.

Senate Approves New Legislation For Hate Crime Law

hate crimeThe Senate has just approved legislation to approve federal hate crime laws. The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crime Prevention Act or LLEHCP fills in the holes left that federal authorities desperately need to prosecute bias-motivated crimes.

The Anti-Defamation League or ADL has highly praised this move, saying they welcome Senate approval of this necessary legislation.

This legislation allows the Justice Department to aide local hate crime prosecutions and when needed, to investigate and prosecute on their own certain cases in which bias has been a factor due to a persons race, color, ethnic background, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability.

While many states have increased their penalties for hate crime laws others like Arkansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Hawaii and South Carolina have no hate crime laws at all. This new legislation should aid the future hate crime victims in those states.

Do Youth Groups Stop Crime?

stop crimeThere seems to be a youth group popping up in every neighborhood, but do they really help stop crime? The government has pledged to curb teenage delinquency since young people are more and more likely to drink, do drugs, join gangs and get into fights.

Youth clubs are one solution to help prevent and stop crime among this age group. When children have nothing better to do than to get into trouble that is exactly what is going to happen. As the saying goes, "Idol hands are the devil's workshop."

Teens that just 'hang out' are more likely to look and ask for trouble, there is no doubt about it. By getting them involved in youth clubs, sports, group and structured activities they will undoubtedly develop more structured social skills, better emotional skills and a place to fit in. It is also a great place to meet new friends.

So far studies suggest youth groups do help stop crime.
